Lego Team Building
The purpose of this exercise was to strengthen our team building protocols and to learn to communicate more effectively, while working toward a common goal within the constraints of a limited time frame. Ok, Ok, and to have some fun while we're at it.
Each team was assigned a color and the configuration consisted of a representative from each SC&C division. Some team members had never met in person or had occasion to work together before this exercise, all participants having come from different parts of the country and working in different SC&C divisions and departments throughout the company.
The house on the left is the "model" constructed by the senior team. The house on the right was the winning house that was constructed by the BLUE team.
The Rules: Each team could ask as many questions of the senior team as they wished and could go to the podium an unlimited number of times to view the "model". A team member could only speak about the project one time and then must defer to the other members of the team who also could only speak once until all had taken their turn at offering suggestions.
As you can see from the pictures below, there were some tech-savvy folks who attempted to take a cell phone picture of the model to use as a guide at their table. However, our cell phone camera buffs quickly found that picture taking was not allowed and so they had to engage in a dialogue about their project with others.

Everyone at the meeting participated, contritubed meaningfully, helped others, shared their ideas openly in an accepting environment, had lots of fun and that is what SC&C is all about. |
